Kim saw my Entering Sign paintings on Instagram and contacted me about painting some signs for Rhode Island towns. She owns The Charlestown Gallery in Charlestown Rhode Island, and thought they would be a good addition to her offerings. I painted these 3 towns initially and we'll see how they do.

Land's End Inn

Last year I painted The Red Inn for Toni as a Christmas gift for her wife. The Land's End Inn in Provincetown, MA is another of their favorite places to stay so this year she asked if I would paint a similar size painting as this year's Christmas gift.

Land's End Inn sits high atop a hill and it's quite a climb to get there, but it is so worth it. The views, the grounds, and the inn are all spectacular.

Jason saw the first Entering Sandwich sign I painted and got an idea. His brother and his family had just purchased a new home in Sandwich Massachusetts on Cape Cod and he wanted to give them a painting as a house warming gift. 

He told me that in Sandwich, it is a tradition for everyone to jump off the boardwalk bridge (at high tide of course) so he asked if I could add his brother and his family doing just that in the picture. Here is a close up:

This past summer, my sister and I visited an amazing exhibit in Newport Rhode Island. It was called the Great Migration and it consisted of hundreds of handmade/carved elephants done by residents in a small village in India. That exhibit inspired me to paint this cute baby elephant strutting along after his mom amongst a colorful landscape in the dessert.

When the weather is cold, I like to paint images from the summer to brighten my spirits. When I worked in Boston, there was a wonderful farmer's market that took place every Tuesday and Friday during the summer in Copley Square in the Back Bay Area of Boston. I used to love to stroll around and admire all of the colorful vegetables, flowers, and other wares of the local vendors.

Perfect Beach Day

I graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1984 from Miami University (Ohio not Florida!) so I was so excited to receive the latest edition of my college magazine where my palette knife painting "Perfect Beach Day" was printed on the inside front cover along with a short blurb about me and my art journey.

Since the magazine was published I have received several emails from people who saw the painting and reached out to hear more about me. I have made several new connections (one with a woman who graduated the same year as me, and lives in the same Massachusetts town as I do. What are odds?). 

And I also made a wonderful new reconnection with a friend from art class. She lives in Florida but was traveling to Massachusetts for vacation with friends from Miami. We met up in Plymouth and had such a fun time reminiscing about school. 

I will be forever grateful for our college magazine bringing us back in touch again.

I can't believe it's 2025 already. I have been so busy with holiday commissions I haven't been able to update my blog in awhile so I plan to spend January posting my most recent paintings. My entering signs have been very popular. These two were created for an auction event last October called "Artists4Kamala" sponsored by Greg Salvatori Gallery in Provincetown.

Dean was the lucky winner of the Truro sign. Here he is showing me where he intends to hang it in his beautiful new home in Truro. And fun coincidence....Dean and I discovered during my visit that we both grew up 5 minutes from each other in a small town outside of Cleveland Ohio. Small world!

And here I am with the Entering Provincetown sign hanging at the gallery. My painting went for $1450 to a lucky new owner in Texas.

Scott saw the Entering Orleans sign that I had for sale at the Red Inn in Provincetown and asked if I had any of Provincetown. The one I had at the inn had already sold so I told him that I would paint it again for him. I just can't seem to keep these in stock-they are so popular!

A gift from a husband to his wife

Vacation at the Masthead

Bernie and his wife take a vacation in Provincetown every summer. They like to stay at a beautiful place called Masthead Resort on Commercial Street. You can always tell where it is from the beach by the bright blue umbrellas that line the deck along the shore.

He asked me to paint this as a surprise gift for his wife.

A new painting of my cousins

Jim asked me to paint this for his girlfriend, my cousin Amy. She is the only girl amongst several brothers. Jim knew that this image was special to Amy because it is the only baby picture she has and it also is the only one with her and her brother Teddy (far left) that died of pneumonia at the young age of 5. 

I just loved their matching outfits and that they look to be holding golf clubs. My grandfather instilled in them a love of golf at a young age!

Pool Boys: : a new large commission

Bill asked me if I would paint a large commission to hang at his swimming pool in Provincetown. I proposed several ideas and we landed on this one of six rainbow clad bathing suit boys on the beach looking out on Long Point Light.

At one point we considered having one of the guys with a naked bum, but then decided to keep it PG 13 so I added a green swimsuit and changed the shirt over his shoulder to white.

Heath House on Nantucket

Andy asked me to create a painting of this house on Nantucket for his dad, Allen. Allen is the live in resident and caretaker of "The Heath House" from May to October every year. He recently completed his third decade as the Middle Moors ranger for the Nantucket Conservation Foundation and this was a gift for his 80th birthday.

The black cat was a last minute addition to the painting. Andy told me that his dad is a "cat guy" and often had cats roaming around his property. This skinny black cat, Augie, is one of his favorites.

We'll be making our way up to this beautiful place on Cape Cod this Saturday to deliver this 62nd painting I have done of The Red Inn on Commercial Street in Provincetown, MA.

In this version, I focused a little more on the archway that displays the 3 red signs welcoming you to enjoy the Raw Bar, Cocktails, or Brunch. Or all 3.

Susan asked if I would paint a picture for her mother who is originally from the south. She suggested a southern magnolia flower as a subject and I found some wonderful references that I merged into making this painting. I hadn't painted flowers in awhile so this commission was very freeing and fun to paint.

My aunt Betsy asked me to paint this beautiful scene of her sister, my other aunt, Lyn, with all of her kids on vacation in Mexico. As we all get older, it can be a rare moment when you are all together. And doesn't this look like fun?

40th birthday commission

Sarah wanted to commission a painting for her nephew as a surprise 40th birthday gift. She found out that he and his wife love this waterfront restaurant in Hyannis on Cape Cod so she asked if I would paint it for them. If you look closely, you will see Eric and his wife dining at one of the outdoor tables.
