Two paintings become one

I was on fire last weekend while working at The Artists Studio and Gallery at Patriot Place. I finished both of these large paintings that were commissioned by a group of friends as a wedding gift to a couple that got married last year. One half of the couple is from Provincetown Massachusetts, and the other half is from Rio de Janeiro. The idea is that they would hang together as shown here:

 

I took several process shots along the way, starting with my sketch stage on the toned canvas boards:



And here are photos I took of the first stage showing how I started each painting:

  


They will be presented to the couple once they are dry enough to transport. I hope they enjoy them for years to come!

Quel cadeau extraordinaire que vous faites à ce couple !
Un présent très symbolique. Deux lieux si différents et qui pourtant s'apparentent avec la présence des ces deux magnifiques ouvrages qui surplombent la ville.
Je pense qu'ils ne seront pas insensibles à ces très belles oeuvres.
Merci de partager avec nous l'évolution de votre travail. C'est toujours très intéressant.

What a special wedding gift this will be! Very unique and I love how you handled this idea, Ann! The paintings are beautiful and as always, I find myself blown away by your skills with a palette knife!
