Grand Haven Lighthouse and Pier

My friend Danielle wanted a one on one painting class with me so she came to the Artists Studio and Gallery at Patriot Place when I was working a few weekends ago. She picked out this image because she is from Michigan and loves lighthouses. We actually zoomed in on her picture so the lighthouse got cropped out, but this was a great start. Above is my version of the small practice demo we painted together.

Her painting came out great, and here is a photo she took of it:

I think I have a new convert to palette knife painting!

Make that two converts. I rarely use a brush anymore. Just for details....Love the scraping on with the knife. So much more energetic!

Oh how lovely!! Those gorgeous deep blue waters...Great Lake or ocean? Either way, you've both captured the mystery of the sea for me.
