It's never too early to start thinking about opening day at the Red Inn. These signs are always very popular, so I usually create at least a few of them to put up for sale.

My name up in lights!

Trinity Church, Boston

6" x 6'

A highlight of 2025 was back in September when I received an email from our local PBS station (WGBH) letting me know that my painting was selected to be projected up on their Community Canvas digital mural from 3-8pm that afternoon. I had submitted my painting for consideration back in January  so the email came as such a wonderful unexpected surprise 8 months later!

Polo and I took a drive on that rainy evening to see it in person. Wow-it was so much bigger than I thought it would be. I said if felt like the artist's version of seeing your name up in lights in Times Square.

For the love of Charlie

Charlie

8" x 10"

My sister Cathy commissioned this portrait as a gift for her friend Tracy whose family recently lost their sweet dog Charlie. Charlie loved the water so I wanted to make sure include some in his portrait. What a great face!

Pugs in Burberry

Pug in Burberry (Marcel and Bardot)

9" x 12"

Bill is a true believer in giving original art as gifts. He asked if I would paint a portrait of these 2 pugs in their Burberry outfits to give as a gift to some friends of his. How could I say no to these cute little faces?

My largest Red Inn Painting yet #69

Welcome To The Red Inn

30" x 48"

Oil with palette knives on canvas

Happy Groundhogs Day! This is the 69th painting I've done of the Red Inn in Provincetown and it is my largest one yet.

Ben and Gordon were staying at the inn last year and saw a painting of mine hanging on the wall in their room. They told me they asked around to find out who painted it, and finally tracked me down.

I usually paint on board but that would have made this a very heavy painting due to its size, so we decided to go with canvas instead. I haven't posted progress shots in awhile but I remembered to take some as I was working on this painting:

Stage 1 the drawing

Stage 2 the red
Stage 3 the inn details and water
Stage 4 the trees sky and Adirondack chairs
Stage 5 the greenery and flowers
Leaving just the fence and the road to completion!

Phew.
