The Red Inn as viewed from the ocean

The Red Inn From The Sea II
12" x 36" x 2"
Oil with a palette knife on Ampersand Gessobord
SOLD

I have been wanting to paint this different view of The Red Inn for awhile now. It shows how the inn looks as seen from the ocean. This weekend, while working at the gallery at Patriot Place I was finally able to complete it. I took this photo below when I just had the beach and water to paint.

I had done a previous commission of this view that was done from a photo taken at a slightly different angle. Here is the link to that painting.

More Dunes and a Demo

Dune Grasses
12" x 24" x 2"
Oil with a palette knife on Ampersand Gessobord
SOLD

The Canton Art Association invited me to do a palette knife painting demo for their group last Friday. Since I knew I'd only have about an hour and a half to paint, I chose a subject that I knew I could paint pretty quickly but still show off the palette knife to its fullest potential. My reference was a pano photo I had taken on a walk in the dune in Provincetown last October. This is a fun subject to paint so you will likely see more paintings like this very soon.

Polo took some images for me of the demo in progress...

Here was my painting after the demo was over. I then went back in the next day to add a few more details.

And here are a couple of close up mini paintings:
