Funny Faces

Funny Faces
18" x 18" x 1.5"
Oil with a palette knife on Blick Studio Artist Board
SOLD

I had this sketched out on a board awhile ago and kind of forgot about it until I was cleaning some things in the basement. The inspiration for this painting was an old family photo that my friend Sarah posted of her, her brothers, and their friends. The original photo was black and white and I originally started to paint it in shades of gray but it just wasn't working. So I restarted it again in color and had fun just imagining what the colors might be or what colors I wanted them to be. I hadn't painted one of my family photos in a while so this was really, really enjoyable.

Below is an "in progress" shot. For these paintings of old family photos, I tape off the sides with masking tape so that I have a nice clean edge to paint the photo border in last.
