Midsummer in Ptown

July in Provincetown

Oil with a palette knife on Ampersand Gessobord

I'm getting ready for summer by painting some more Provincetown themed paintings which I hope to show up at The Red Inn this season. This is a pretty quintessential, well photographed cottage on Commercial Street in Ptown. If anyone know if this has a particular name, please let me know. I just loved the large flag in the front and the flower boxes with the hits of red. It is just so wonderfully summer.

Below is a photo I took of the painting after my first session. I got pretty far along that first day, so then I just had to come back and finish the fence and the sidewalk in front.

I like to include some closeup shots so you can see the texture of the palette knife strokes. I like how each of these look like little paintings in and of themselves.

Great work Ann--am loving what you've been working on. I too have had a painting "break" hopefully brought on by winter... Glad to see you back! :)

How stunning!! I'd love to be walking the streets in this area to see such gorgeous homes. This one reminds me a bit of tall and narrow houses I've seen in pictures of Amsterdam, though admittedly this one is free-standing. I get the oddest sensation of wanting to take a bite out of your close-up shots of texture. They just look so darned yummy!
