Dan asked if I would paint a portrait of their two cats as a surprise birthday present for his wife Donna. Toot is the calico and acts as a mother to the black longhair named Rumble. They love to snuggle together, especially if there is fleece or jacket of their owners lying on the couch.

Jody saw this first painting I did of this scene on display at the red inn in Provincetown. She decided she wanted to purchase it for her daughter who was expecting her first baby. When she returned to purchase it, it had been sold. So she asked if I would paint it again but adjust the hair color to better match her daughter and the likely color of her son's hair.

I love painting summer scenes in the middle of winter. It makes me think that warmer weather is not that far away. This house on Commercial Street in Provincetown has a beautiful deck, garden, and view of the ocean. It was just calling to be painted.

I've been working on a series of little girls called "Las Ninas". This painting was inspired by a copyright free photo I found on Pixabay.com but I changed several things about it. I added the red hat and the Red Sox logo to her shirt. I added the wicker basket and the black and white kitten peering out of it. There was also a boy in the background that I removed. I wanted to focus on just her.
I love painting photos of summertime images in the middle of winter. It makes me feel that warm weather will soon be here again.

Heather saw the Entering signs I had on display at the Artist's Studio and Gallery at Patriot Place in Foxboro and asked if I had one for Entering Falmouth. I had painted one last year but that one sold so I offered to create a new one for her.
That's the Nobska Lighthouse shown in the background and that road is where the famous Falmouth Road Race marathon goes through each year.

I'm still catching up on my Christmas posts! I painted these tags as gifts for my art pals. I love pickled red onions and the pinkish red color is just right as a gift for the holidays. I actually used the onions as my models for each painting before they got cut up to pickle.
I put the onions in these cute jars I purchased at Michael's and then added the ribbons and tiny forks to each one.
Here is how the group looked all together. I'm really happy with how they came out-I might post these images on Pinterest. I found tons of recipes for pickled red onions on Pinterest, but I don't think anyone else has thought to give them as homemade gifts like this for Christmas.

Last September, Polo and I took a wonderful sailboat trip in Provincetown on the Bay Lady II. This painting was inspired by the view we had sailing by the Long Point Lighthouse and beach.
I created the water and sky using an acrylic paint pour technique. Then once that was dry, I painted the sailboat, lighthouse, and beach, and land using my palette knives.
Here's a link to a movie I created showing you the paint pour process. It was very messy but a lot of fun.
Mary Ann loved the painting and it is now hung in their living room for all to see.
I just learned that the Lobster Pot is up for sale. Only $14 million. I wish only the best for this iconic restaurant’s future.

Diane and Annie were admiring the first version I did of this painting hanging at Cafe Heaven on Commercial Street in Provincetown and asked if I would paint them their own version of it.
Their painting will hang in their home on the scenic Shore Road in Truro.

Happy New Year! I hope you had a great holiday.
I realized that I didn't get a chance to post anything in December and that's because I was busy working on commissions. I couldn't post them until their new owners received them as gifts. So now I get to share with you what I've been working on.
First up is this cutie, Owen. His owner named him that because Owen kind of sounds like "orange". Owen had a good life but recently went over the rainbow bridge so Donna asked if I would paint him so Sandy would be able to see his cute face every day and be reminded of what a special cat he was to her.

John saw my collection of entering signs at the Art Gallery at Patriot Place and asked if I would paint one of Dennisport where he and his wife have a summer cottage. He also asked that I include their favorite restaurant, The Ocean House, in the background. Looks like a great place to enjoy the ocean breezes and the beautiful sunsets.

It's New England Patriots football season so I thought I'd add a new addition to my Entering signs collection. Theres is a lot of construction going on at Gillette Stadium right now. They are redoing the tower at the entrance (depicted in this painting). It's supposed to have seats up there to view the game-and you would probably get a really great view of the fly over of the fighter jets-also depicted in my painting.
I also included the Pro Shop where you can load up on your Pats gear as well as the Patriots Hall of Fame where you can load up on your Patriots football history knowledge.

A photo taken by Dmitriy Gutarev that I found on pixabay.com inspired this painting. Pixabay is a great resource for artists since it's loaded with great images that are all free to use. I added the Patriot logo to her hat which I thought was a fun touch.
What I loved about painting this was trying to figure out how to use my knives to create the different textures from the wool scarf to the knit hat and the fluffy snow.

Scott saw some of my other Entering signs online and asked if I had ever done one for Charlestown,MA. I hadn't. After a little research, I discovered that Charlestown does not have its own sign since it is considered a "neighborhood" of Boston. After a little more digging, I found that Charlestown had been a town in 1628 before being annexed in to Boston, so I mocked up the sign using 1628 as the date. In the background you can see the Bunker Hill monument as well as the USS Constitution (Old Ironsides) both of which are iconic landmarks in the town.

Here is a cute black cat face for your Halloween.
Arielle asked if I would paint this portrait for her friends who recently lost her. If you were to guess what this cute kitty's name was, Snowflake would probably not even be on the list. Maybe he loved snow? The eyes of this kitty are mesmerizing though, aren't they?

My sister Cathy has neighbor named Paul. He is the cutest little nugget of love and he considers Cathy his best friend. They play tennis and other games and have so much fun together. Cathy is heartbroken because Paul and his family are moving away soon so I decided to paint this picture for her as a gift for her recent birthday.

This painting depicts the interior of an iconic staple in Provincetown on Commercial Street called The Old Colony Tap. Since we had never been inside before, we decided to stop in for a quick beer on a hot afternoon during one of our last visits to Ptown. A place that locals have hung out for years, the history on the walls (and ceiling) of this place is priceless.
The rough wood surface I used for this painting is from Michaels Arts and Crafts store. I've used this surface before on a couple of previous paintings. I think it gives the painting a rustic feel that goes well with the subject matter.
This painting was difficult to photograph due to its rough edge and darker colors. The photo above is a little light/blown out. Here is another image I took that is a little too dark.
I think this photo below I took while it was still in progress shows the color best.
